 President’s Message    July 2008

What an interesting June meeting we had! Hope you stopped by to hear City Planner Brian Schoenfisch bring us up to date on all the construction presently going on and projected for Clairemont.  The district manager of Target stores also filled us in on plans for the new Target presently being rebuilt by Home Depot.  Many questions were answered by an obviously interested audience.

We will have no general meeting in July, but it is time to mark August 7th on your calendar as the date of our annual potluck picnic.  This will be a good opportunity to mingle with other CTC members, our elected official’s representatives, and some of the elected officials themselves. Even if you are not a member, bring a dish to share and come join us! There will be no formal meeting, just good conversation and information about your community.

Due to changes in people’s lives, we have some board positions available.  It is a prerequisite to have been a CTC member for at least 3 months, and having a willingness to take a more active role in your community is a help! If you would like to know more, call our voice mail at 858-863-0908 and leave a message and I will get back to you with more details.  Joining now is a great way to check out being on the board for a few months to see if you would want to commit to next year.

Hope you read the cover article about city libraries in the June 19th Reader which focused on the North Clairemont Branch Library.  The author wasn’t allowed to interview or photograph us, so her article was based on observation and a lot of research. We  who work at the library thoroughly enjoyed it, and had fun recognizing some of our patrons on the cover!

See you at Clairemont Day, August 2nd, and at our annual potluck picnic, Thursday, August 7th, 4:30-7:00pm at the South Clairemont Recreation Center. Until then, stay cool.
